The first sale of an industrial digital printer by one of Scitex Vision's newly appointed IS dealers, Alpha Imaging Technologies, was a new Scitex Vision XLjet+ 3 meter to Joseph Merritt & Company, headquartered in Hartford, CT.
The eight-color Scitex Vision XLjet+ 3 meter was delivered in July and was up and running at Merritt's Hartford facility within two weeks.
In recent years Merritt had been printing for its targeted markets of vehicle graphics, banners/outdoor signage, custom displays/trade shows and POP displays initially using entry-level large format color printers on substrates such as Scotch Print. The former blueprint company then made a strategic decision to fully support the digital business segment and acquired three high resolution, but relatively slow mid-range solvent-based printers.
Subsequent to an extensive evaluation of the products available, the significantly faster super-wide format Scitex Vision XLjet+ 3 meter was selected by Merritt to fulfill its strategic growth plans and meet the needs of its customers. The printer is capable of reaching speed of up to 95m²/hr (1,023 sq. ft. /hr) and major substrate makers such as Avery and 3M warrant its output.
Alpha Imaging Technologies, Inc., Boston, MA, serves a territory that includes the states of Connecticut, Maine, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The company, which is also an Avery distributor, operated from offices in Boston and New York City and Alpha has annual sales exceeding $10 million.
